Sims 3 Medieval Default Replacement Skill Paintings Mod Overhaul

At last I have decided to upload my mod here. Presenting:
MTS didn't pass the upload based on the fact that I couldn't be arsed to go through 300 pages of google images to credit the artists for whoms' works I have VASTLY altered and TWEAKED with Paint.net to make the images ORIGINAL AND PART OF THIS MOD! Some of the artwork is ACTUALLY MY OWN!!! so like, JEEz! As I said, (or didn't) all of the images were from Google Images, uploaded and a part of the internet for ANYONE to use. If you insist that you want to know who painted what before I completely changed the appearance of the original piece and altered it almost beyond recognition then fine, post a question and I will take valuable time up to find the name of the artist for you.

So to MTS I say:
Also, JUST KIDDING!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS at MTS, keep up the awesome community there, and all that!

So introductions out of the way - it's on with the mod:
What this mod does:

It  replaces all of the EA images that are spawned when your sim creates a small, medium or large painting using the artists' easel.

The Mod, I would say, is ESSENTIAL for anyone who plays Medieval in the Sims 3.

I've tried to cover lots of different topics so the images can be utilized for story-telling AND decor.

Text that is produced is painted in Latin (ofc) - and backwards translatable on Google Translate :D

Here are some examples of what came out when I put 6 sims at 6 easels. 3 of the sims were default sims with none of the 8 traits listed (see below) and the other 3 were all Artistic Sims.

As  you can see, there are several different types of paintings that could be produced by your sims for that period. This was from level 1-6, the mod goes to level 10, then there are Masterpieces, Brilliants, all replaced with images that could have been painted in Medieval times.
(Because we all know Aliens have been abducting Sims since the first Llama swam out of the oceans!)

Some of the time, Artistic sims will paint a better quality image of the same picture than none Artistic sims, and some of the time they will paint something completely different to their Philistine counterparts.

I  sometimes like to add a frame and then "Sculpturify" the EDGE of the frame using Nraas Debug Enabler to turn it to wood, stone or clay.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF!
All images have had parchment overlayed to give an authentic 'of the time' likeness.
These files are separated into two modules: Default and Artistic.

There are 8 trait personalities that affect the outcome of the painting:.
Artistic, Insane, Genius, Can't Stand Art, Computer Whizz, Neurotic, Grumpy and Evil.

I decided to go with the default (for sims with none of the above traits) and the Artistic module for sims with the Artistic trait - because don't you just HATE how EA made artistic sims paint all blurry like?
I may release the other modules in the future to cover the other traits; I've already got so far with them but didn't have the ten years spare required to do them all at once; releasing all of the modules in one package would create a huge file so I thought this way would be better.
Whether or not I get around to releasing the other modules depends on a huge amount of factors all falling under the umbrella of 'How bothered can I be?'

Notes to consider: 1. Sims who possess traits listed from the ones above, obviously other than Artistic which is covered here, will roll a chance to paint their trait specific painting and will not produce paintings from this mod. For example, you have a sim, their traits are say, Hates outdoors, Couch potato, Artistic, Genius, Computer whizz, the paintings will roll a chance to paint a trait specific picture such as the Genius EA version or the Computer Whizz EA version or the Artistic Version from this mod or the default version of this mod.
2. Artistic sims also roll a chance of painting the same as default sims - bear that in mind. You might have to reset the sim's level and paint over again to try and get the image you are looking for.
3.If you want this mod working fully on all canvas's then don't use Insane, Genius, Cant' Stand Art, Computer Whizz, Neurotic, Grumpy or Evil traits; use Artistic combined with any other traits or just use any other traits without Artistic to get the default paintings to show.
Do you understand? I've lost myself a bit there with the wording but I'm sure you can figure it out - or post a question and I will answer as best I can! Accompanying these modules is a canvas edge replacement override mod

I'm not explaining this one. Look at the picture and figure it out! I think that covers the lot?
I am here to receive comments, feedback and questions.

Downloads:
Sim File Share:  Default
                          Artistic
                          Canvas Edge
                          Gallery - Default
                          Gallery - Artistic

Also - please SHARE this post because every Medieval Simmer should have it. I said so.
I placed the painting modules in my
C:\Users\[PC-Name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\ Packages file and the Canvas Override in my Overrides folder, though I can't see why it wouldn't work in the Packages folder too.

Now go away. (And please follow me here or on Tumblr for more)

Donations welcome from my haters only.

  1. The Mod is so...it is really so...it is really really soooo.....! I give it up. Can´t find words for it. A really great work - should get so much more attention. All your stuff is so wonderful. Keep it up ;-).By the way, did you ever thought about medieval functional objects like a functional wood chopper or washing with hands instead the working washmaschine?
